Congressional Art Competition
3rd Runner-Up

Kenadie Escalante’s painting of a moon scene was selected as the Grand Prize Winner for the Congressional Art Competition and Karina Avalos-Hildalgo’s painting of a violin placed Third Runner-Up. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent. Entries are submitted to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Kenadie’s painting will be displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol from June 2019 – June 2020. The VGHS art students are taught by Carlos Jimenez.
