CTE Student of the Month
Austin Sims

Austin Sims of Vista Grande High School was recognized Tuesday, October 1, as the Casa Grande Union High School District’s Career and Technical Education Student of the Month during the district’s regular monthly school board meeting. Austin was nominated by his Technical Theatre teacher Mrs. Kathy Harding at Vista Grande High School. Mrs. Harding nominated him because Austin has done much to distinguish himself from his peers. As a quiet student who transferred into the program with some construction and welding experience, he has evolved into a self-starting student who searches for knowledge relating to technical theatre beyond his experience level. He has become a true leader who is highly respected by his peers for his knowledge and leadership. His professionalism and perfectionism have helped make significant strides in the elevation of Vista Grande Theatre Company’s values. Austin’s work ethic and willingness to assume responsibility is unrivaled among his contemporaries. Not only has he worked tirelessly to support all the various productions and events the past two school years, he also played an integral part in the technical preparation of our most challenging production to date “Mamma Mia.” He has quickly become our go-to student for Technical Theatre. He is always willing to give assistance and I am proud to see him growing and leading our organization. Austin’s parents are Brett and Wendy Kline of Arizona City. Over 1,800 students are enrolled in 13 different Career and Technical Education Programs throughout the Casa Grande Union High School District. Each month, a different CTE program will nominate a deserving student for this honor.
