Freshman Band

Course Description

The Freshman Band is for the developing instrumentalist and emphasizes fundamentals of good playing techniques and basic music knowledge. All Freshman Band members are expected to participate in the Marching Band and all of its activities (home football games, pep assemblies, and parades). The band travels to most away football games, and to several marching competitions in the fall. In addition to regular class time, there are regularly scheduled rehearsals. There is a Color Guard (Flag/Dance line) that participates in all activities with the Marching Band (please see Color Guard 1-2). This band also performs in several concerts throughout the year. Freshman percussionists should sign up for Percussion Ensemble instead of Freshman Band. There is a band camp before school starts. A physical is needed for this class. The first semester of this class may be applied to Fine Arts credit for all students or a semester of PE credit for students.
