AOI (Arizona Online Instruction) Approved

Grades 9-12
Enrolled in home high school as an AOI student (CGUHS or VGHS)
Five (5) days per week remote learning instruction
Classroom attendance received only by student working in Edgenuity for a minimum of 4 ½ hours per school day.
Depending on health safety conditions, students may be required to complete their course final in person.
Edgenuity courses
o Core subjects and electives (course offerings provided by school counselors)
o Due to the complexity of the AP curriculum, two-semester AP courses will only be offered for full year enrollment.
CGUHSD teachers using online Edgenuity Curriculum
Students are enrolled in three courses per quarter and are expected to complete six courses per semester, based on student academic graduation requirements.

What can families expect while learning in CGUHSD Online?

Students will participate in the high-level learning they are used to, but in a structured online environment using Edgenuity. The Edgenuity curriculum is grounded in research and is aligned to Arizona State Standards, the Common Core, and the NGSS. Students will be enrolled in three courses per quarter and are expected to complete six courses per semester with classes assigned based on each student’s academic graduation requirements. Families who choose this model will remain remote for the duration of the school semester.

Are all online courses available on both campuses?

Depending upon enrollment minimums and instructor availability, all courses may not be available at one or both campuses.

What are the vital components of successful online learning?

Daily attendance and completion of assignments in each course are vital components of successful online learning.

Is daily online attendance required?

Students are required to log on to Edgenuity and commit to a daily minimum of 4 1/2 hours, actively engaged in completing the assignments in their courses.

How is online attendance tracked?

Edgenuity tracks a student's idle time (logged on, but not working on assignments) and actual time (working on assignments) every day. The daily 4 ½ hour requirement is tracked using the actual time when a student is logged on and engaged in completing assignments.

What must an online student do to receive course credit?

Students must complete all assignments and pass with minimum competency and take an (in-person) or virtual, teacher- proctored final exam to receive course credit.

What are some of the responsibilities of online teachers?

Self-guided and live learning will occur with a focus on competency of standards and units of instruction.

Teachers will provide ongoing feedback and district grading practices will be used.
Teachers will provide office hours, and live individual and/or small group sessions will be available.

What are some of the responsibilities of online students?

Students must regularly check for feedback from their instructors using their school email.

Parents are encouraged to actively participate in student learning to assist school with ensuring student participation and completion of courses.

Can online students participate in extracurricular school activities?

Online students may participate in extracurricular activities such as clubs and high school athletics, following health and safety guidelines when available as well as student eligibility.
