Guidance Department Information:

Academics are not based on seat time but rather that students must meet or exceed all academic standards for all course work requirements. This allows students to work on a self-paced program that is conducive to their academic success.

Regarding safety, the academic integrity of each classroom is to be strictly maintained. Therefore, any infractions, however small, are sent to the office so the proper authorities can intervene and consult with parent and student.

Our guidance department meets with students upon completion of each course the student successfully passes. The student is then enrolled in a new course in order to continue their academic studies.

We limit the number of classes a student can take, down to two. This way student can focus on one task at a time and easily get help when needed.

District Credit Guidelines

Students who do not meet district credit guidelines at the beginning of each semester will remain in an alternative district placement. Please refer to chart below:

Grade Level Fall Spring
9 N/A < 3 Credits
10 < 4 Credits < 7 Credits
11 < 10 Credits < 13 Credits
12 < 16 Credits < 19 Credits

Bus Transportation

Casa Grande Union High School District contracts bus services with Durham Transportation.

If you have any questions regarding bus routes or schedules, please call (520) 836-8735.

To contact the attendance office call (520) 316-3361 ext. 5130.

Parents calling in for their child will not count as an excused absence!

Students arriving late to school should go directly to the office for a tardy pass. Since instructional time is priority. It is necessary that students be in class and are prepared for the lesson to begin when the tardy bell rings. Students are expected to be in their classes when the last bell rings. Students will be considered tardy if they are not in their classroom in their assigned seat and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. Failure to be in class ten (10) minutes after the start of class will constitute an absence.

Students who are absent for more than 90% of the course (Credit Recovery) or 4 or more class meetings (Alternative), during a given semester class, will lose credit in that class. On the 10th consecutive absence the student will be dropped from the program. Your Schedule may be collapsed as a result of failing courses. Tardies and absences are counted together in the alternative session (2 absences and 2 tardies = possible failure)

See page 12 of your student handbook for complete details on attendance
